Easter Island Statue Shuffle Walking Moai

Recently scientists found they could walk the Easter Island statues (Moai) from the quarry down the road to their costal pedistals. This was presented on NOVA as episode title The Mystery of Easter Island. Now, presented here is another method involving a counterweight and a pendulum, which somewhat imitates their results. The rear counterweight keeps the statue from tiping forward, while the pendulum causing the left/right forces to make the statue “walk” – or more of a shuffle perhaps. A greater swing of the pendulum induces more of a wobbly walk instead of a shuffle. But it definitely moves in one direction. The bottom of the statue is shaped so it leans slightly forward, and is cut in a “D” shape with the round part facing forward, as presented on NOVA.
