BBC Religion ‘Miracles of Jesus’

Several Time-Slice® shots of key biblical moments, shot on location in Morocco

This project took almost a year in planning and a month of technical prep. The shoot encompassed deserts, rivers and mountains in Morocco, and a very challenging night shoot in Malta. Our small digital camera rig was pushed to the limits in sandstorms, heat and dust and then asked to work both at sea, in rain and underwater in Maltas famous film tank. Stabilization and rough compositing was done on location to make sure the scenes were covered, and the plates were then taken back to Time-Slice® Films for interpolation at 3K to 250 frames. With delivery in HD, the results are stunning, smooth, highly detailed tracking shots around the miracle moments. The enormity of the task required some new software written specifically for the job, and the post-production was truly cross-platform on both PC and Mac in Combustion, Shake, and After Effects. 3D particle effects were incorporated in-house to replicate rain in the storm sequences, with further motion visual effects added by Red Vision in Manchester for the final cut.
