Weeping Virgin Mary statue in Israel attracts Christian believers

Subscribe to ITN News:
A Virgin Mary statue in Israel that is said to weep oily tears has been leaving Christians in a state of disbelief. The statue, which is in Amira Khoury’s living room in the town of Tarshiha, has attracted visitors who have travelled hours by car or bus to see the apparent ‘miracle.’ Amira was stunned when she saw what happened. “I saw the oil weeps, I told my husband and I told him come and see that there is oil on her face. He smiled and did not believe me. I told my neighbour who was also at my house to see that there is oil on her face. When he told my husband, my husband believed us and I was really afraid,” she said. However, a little further investigation found that the statue was in fact filled with oil. The phenomenon of the weeping statue is believed to be associated with miracles but even the Catholic Church is cautious in verifying cases as there have been a large number of hoaxes.
