The Rendlesham Forest UFO incident is dubbed as Britain’s Roswell. It happened in December 1980, in which a series of sightings of unknown lights were reported. The events happened outside the Rendlesham Forest in Suffolk, England, which, at that time, was used by the US Air Force.
The Rendlesham Forest incident is the most famous UFO events that happened in Britain and one of the most known UFO incidents worldwide. The incident actually happened in two days: on 26th December and 28th December of year 1980.
December 26: At around 3 o’clock in the morning of December 26, 1980, a security officer patrolling the RAF Woodbridge notice lights descending into the Rendlesham Forest, which is just nearby. Initially, the servicemen thought the lights were from a downed aircraft. They entered the forest to investigate and saw a glowing, metallic object with colored lights. They tried to go near the object but it moved through the trees, making the nearby farm animals to go into frenzy. Sergeant Jim Penniston, one of the servicemen, claimed that they saw a “craft of unknown origin”.
At around 4 o’clock in the morning, the local police arrived but claimed the only lights they saw were the lights coming from a lighthouse located a few miles away from the scene. After daybreak of the same day, servicemen returned to the scene and found burn marks on nearby trees, as well as three small triangular impressions on the clearing. The police were once again summoned, but they (the police) thought the impressions were made by some animal.
December 28: In the early hours of December 28, Lt. Col. Charles Halt and a number of servicemen went to the site. Using a radiation survey meter, the deputy base commander and his men took radiation readings around the area. While doing this, they saw a three lights in the sky, which are similar to stars, two of which pointed to the north while the other one pointed to the south. Astronomers later dismissed these lights as bright stars.
