LIVE: Alien enthusiasts gather near Area 51 in Nevada Desert

Ruptly is live from the Nevada Desert on Saturday, September 21, as alien enthusiasts gather on the outskirts of the top-secret US military installation known as Area 51.
An event, titled ‘Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us’, was called for yesterday on social media, with millions of people RSVPing. Organisers intended to raid Area 51 to “see them Aliens”.
After authorities warned that any attempt to storm the military base would not be tolerated, the event page was later shut down. Despite the amount of of people who gathered in front of the gate, no incidents were recorded.
Area 51 has long been a topic of fascination for conspiracy theorists and paranormal enthusiasts who believe it to be the location where the US government stores and hides alien bodies and UFOs. Its existence was only acknowledged by the US government in 2013 after citizens filed a Freedom of Information Act request that called for the release of information regarding the government’s activities in the area.
