Garik Israelian | Stars with Extrasolar Planets: Are They Different? | NEAF Talks

Filmed April 2014

The vast majority of stars in our Milky Way galaxy host planets, many of which may be capable of supporting life. New research into star-planet relationships is getting closer to telling astronomers which stars those may be. Most planets form around stars which influence the planets, however research is suggesting that the type of planet also has influences on the star. Cutting edge spectrography is allowing astronomers to determine not only which stars may host exoplanets but also which kind of planets.
