Fluoridation is a polarizing subject, like politics. There is a lot of heat, and light, so how does one know one way or the other? This talk deals strictly with the chemistry of the fluorine atom and how that atom will react with you. The pro-fluoride camp tries to scorn the anti-fluoride camp by saying they are radicals and conspiracy theorists, and that they are not scientific. I’ll gladly wear the conspiracy theorist T-shirt and would be happy to put my 12 years of chemistry up against any pro-fluoride individual in a scientific debate. The truth will come out eventually, just as it did for asbestos, and leaded gasoline. Meanwhile people are being poisoned, against their will, for a supposed benefit that is highly dose dependent. The approved and lethal doses of fluoride are so close — there should be a factor of 100 between them but it is more like 5 or less — that there is no other potentially harmful thing being treated this recklessly. I guess if you are on dialysis, using many times more water than the average person, you are just out luck. Too bad, soda kid has gotta have good teeth. If one-third of the population gets fluorosis in the process, well that’s just the price of good looks! 🙂
