Fluoridation News

Last March representatives in FL voted to reinstitute public water fluoridation. Fluoride was initially removed due to pressure from conspiracy theorists and tea party conservatives, who were either unaware or unconcerned with the scientific facts of the matter. In a swift response to ignorance gone wild, the Tampa Bay Times editorial board went on a mission to correct this mistake by informing and educating the public. After some award winning journalism, Pinellas County reversed its decision and reinstituted fluoridation with an overwhelming 6-1 vote.
The issue of water fluoridation is one that I take very seriously because I used to be a strong opponent of the practice. However, in very much the same fashion as Pinellas County, I changed my mind after learning more about the issue. I never “decided” to change my position on fluoridation; rather I was compelled to change my position because I had learned new information that was demonstrable and verifiable.
Please don’t give up on conspiracy theorists and religious fanatics, if I can change then anyone can.
