Members of the U.S. coronavirus task force, including President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, provided an update on the COVID-19 outbreak on Sunday. This press conference comes a day after the U.S. government has imposed further travel restrictions from Europe, which will suspend all travel from the U.K. and Ireland.

During the briefing, Vice President Mike Pence stated that over 2000 labs across the country will soon be able to process COVID-19 tests, and that over 10 states, in addition to public health and CDC labs, have implemented drive-through virus testing sites. Health officials also stated that they will be focusing specifically on taking care of health care workers, responders, and the elderly during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Trump advised U.S. citizens who were purchasing or hoarding large quantities of food and supplies due to the COVID-19 outbreak to “relax” and “take it easy.” He added that retailers will work with the federal government to “ensure that food and essentials are constantly available.”

On Friday, President Donald Trump declared a national emergency due to the virus’ spread.
