Ancient Astronomy: Nabta Playa, the Egyptian Stonehenge

The Nabta Playa Complex was discovered in 1974 and predates the early Egyptian dynasties. It contains a megalithic stone structure, which served as a star observatory, and which is an ancient account of the highly sophisticated astronomical knowledge of pre-dynastic Egypt. Officially it’s assigned to the Young Stone Age and mainstream archaeologists claim, that the “primitive” people of that age couldn’t have astronomical knowledge.
