Greece: Golden Dawn MP brands Tsipras a ‘liar’ in rant over bailout deal
Member of Parliament for the far-right Golden Dawn party, Ilias Panagiotaros, condemned Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras’ third bailout agreement with the country’s creditors, in the Hellenic Parliament in Athens on Wednesday. Panagiotaros labelled Tsipras “a liar” and his Syriza party “political crooks.”
SOT, Ilias Panagiotaros, Golden Dawn MP (Greek): “We are keeping just three quotes out of the [Prime Minister’s] interview. “I signed a deal I don’t believe in, but I had to choose between this and a disorderly bankruptcy, so I chose the first”. This is what [former PM] Antonis Samaras and the others who signed memoranda were saying. “There is a commitment to restructure the debt”. He is a liar, on top of that. There is no such thing in this deal. “We avoid a Grexit”. You just avoid for a few months tops, since no one will survive this deal.”
SOT, Ilias Panagiotaros, Golden Dawn MP (Greek): “You made fools of yourselves with your “red lines” which became pink, although some of you don’t seem to have any problem with that. You raped the meaning of “honest compromise” and the word “honesty”, because what they did to you is not a compromise or even honest. You are liars and political crooks – feel free to call us demagogues for saying that.”
